Carlton Jumel Smith returns to DROM NYC with a brand new high-powered music revue and energy-packed R&B variety show!
Hear some old things new, some new things old, and some things borrowed...and ALL solid gold!
THIS IS SOUL! What is "SOUL", you ask?!
Well, according to Wilson "Wicked" Pickett, "Soul ain't nothing but a feeling." And no one conveys that "feeling" better than everyone’s universal ambassador of ass-shakin' groove and the sultan of the sweet soul... Carlton Jumel Smith!
Join Carlton as he opens a treasure trove of thoughtfully, carefully, lovingly, and SOUL-fully curated classics from yesterday PLUS some heartfelt originals from today that are guaranteed to be classics tomorrow such as 'Woman You Made Me', 'Ain't That Love?' and more from Carlton's critically acclaimed '1634 Lexington Avenue' release.
Then slip into the groove stream with classics such as “Sweet Soul Music” by Arthur Conley, “Midnight Hour” by Wilson Pickett, “Tighten Up” by Archie Bell & The Drells, “Shotgun” by Jr. Walker & The All Stars, and (you outta breath yet?) “Unchain My Heart” by Mr. Ray Charles PLUS much, much more!
Join us at DROM NYC on Friday, April 28, 2023, as Carlton takes you on an exciting ride of music, dancing, laughter, and oftentimes profound reflection!
