CEG Presents: Shubh Saran & Aberdeen
Join us for a night of cutting-edge music by two up and coming artists, Shubh Saran and Aberdeen. Both of these bands cross genres within their original compositions to push the boundaries of modern music.
Shubh Saran
Shubh Saran is a New York-based guitarist, composer, and producer who has performed globally with his band throughout the United States, India, Canada, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Mexico. Having grown up in six different countries, his career has been shaped by a mixture of influences. Saran’s intricate compositions fuse sounds from modern jazz, neo-soul, and rock with classical and contemporary Indian music. In October 2021, Saran independently released his second full-length album and fourth overall release titled inglish – a groundbreaking work that explores concepts of assimilation, global identity, and native culture.
Pitchfork described inglish as “a heartfelt exploration of the ups and downs of being part of the world’s fastest-growing floating tribe—part global citizen, part cultural refugee,” and named the album to its list of Best Jazz and Experimental Music of 2021

Aberdeen
Aberdeen is a jazz / indie rock brass band based out of Brooklyn, NY. They create a wall of sound with soaring, horn-driven melodies, supported by a bed of distorted guitars and raucous drums. Brian Plautz is the primary songwriter in the band. The band, featuring saxophones, trombone, trumpet, guitars, bass and drums never ceases to fill a room with energy. Aberdeen's albums Downpour and Held Together showcase their massive, one-of-a-kind sound, featuring Multi Grammy Award-winning drummer Antonio Sánchez (Pat Metheny, Birdman) and bassist Adam Neely, who hosts a 1.6 million+ subscriber music channel on YouTube. Demonstrated during Aberdeen's 2019 U.S. State Department tour to Central Asia, Aberdeen's music is about community; a large collective of musicians with the hope of sharing its music to audiences throughout the world.
