Charity Show with Wet Chris, Scarlett Taylor, Such A Pretty Face and India Lake

Come explore New York indie music at Drom in the East Village on April 6 at 7 PM!

Wet Chris

Wet chris recently arrived on the scene in New York City with the pronounced goal of bringing ‘the power of Jazz, Funk, and Time Travel to one and to all’. A mysterious being, it is unclear whether Wet hails from a dark UK garage, as he says, or if he was in fact fished out (guitar first) from a swamp on the Flora-bama shoreline, by a traveling sage, as his official biography would assert. Those on the west coast of America say he was created by a blue spirit in the desert, and raised by wolves, while the widely known European tale goes that he was schoolmates with Dracula and hidden in the Swiss Alps for centuries, only escaping to Berlin amidst the rise of Krautrock. Whatever the case, he has been deep undercover as 22 year old NYU student: Chris Murphy, for 4 years now. As graduation looms near and this ruse draws to a close. The time has come for the world to get… Wet Such A Pretty Face

Such A Pretty Face blurs the lines between magic and psychedelic, creating a unique sound using an unconventional combination of instruments mixed with technology invented by members of the band. The seven-person band, hiding behind masks, has the power to bring an audience to tears with their grandiose sound and psychedelic prismatic visuals, broken up with magic acts and improvisation. Their sound has been described as psychedelic prog-folk shoegaze with emotional and existential lyrics, comparable to bands like Radiohead and Pink Floyd. Every single show is like a Polaroid, a snapshot of a moment that will never be recreated the same way again. Scarlett Taylor

Scarlett Taylor is a producer and songwriter exploring witchcraft, tarot, and astrology through electronic music and poetry. Inspired by various genres of alternative music, she has been able to cultivate her own sonic signature by using found sounds, unconventional instrument pairings, and vocal layering and distortion. She finds a unique cross section between squalling indie-rock and ambient ballads. Her music is cathartic, compelling, and compassionate. The music is unapologetically herself and is a constant exploration of what is possible outside the guidelines of the norm.

Bec Lauder

Three chords, a red guitar and the truth. Driven by a feeling, Bec’s music always tells a story. Her hometown, Philadelphia’s rock scene was a huge inspiration along with timeless artists like Etta James, Amy Winehouse and Aretha Franklin. Her sound plays with the listener, pushing and pulling through feeling and letting it all go when it feels just right.
