Immerse yourself in Novalima’s groundbreaking blend of Afro-Peruvian roots and modern electronic sounds live at DROM on June 20.

The pioneering Afro-Peruvian sound system and Latin GRAMMY nominees NOVALIMA are proud to release La Danza (Deluxe Version) on January 24, 2025 through Six Degrees Records. This new edition brings together the critically acclaimed EPs La Danza Part 1 and Part 2, along with three brand-new tracks and a special bonus: a unique cover of Bob Marley’s iconic “Exodus.” The two original EPs captured the imagination of fans and critics alike, topping the CNJ charts in both Latin and World categories and earning glowing praise from outlets like Remezcla and Sounds and Colours.

Now, the Deluxe Version expands on this success, offering a complete listening experience that showcases Novalima’s boundary-pushing Afro-Peruvian sound. New tracks such as the meditative “Kamino al Ketoke,” the entrancing “Viajo con La Luna,” and the soulful “Alma,” featuring the legendary Rosita Guzmán on vocals, deliver fresh, exhilarating energy to the album. Through La Danza (Deluxe Version), Novalima continues to innovate by collaborating with a new generation of artists and fusing contemporary global sounds with their Afro-Peruvian roots. The album serves as a bridge between traditional African rhythms and modern musical landscapes, from dub and reggae to electronic beats. Tracks like “Soy Palenque” (featuring Peruvian MC Karolinativa and Mexican dub jazz duo Man After Man) and “Mil Noches” (featuring Pahua) highlight Novalima’s ability to create music that is both deeply rooted in culture and universally appealing.

Reflecting on the release, the band states: “For over 20 years, we’ve been exporting Peruvian culture through our music, collaborating with inspiring artists, and growing artistically with every project. With the Deluxe Version of La Danza, we aim to continue spreading our sound to younger audiences and bringing people together through the exhilarating experience of our live performances.” To celebrate the release, Novalima will embark on an exciting U.S. tour in June 2025 followed by an extensive European tour in July 2025, where audiences can experience their electrifying blend of Afro-Peruvian rhythms, global beats, and infectious energy live. Over their celebrated career, Novalima has earned worldwide critical acclaim from media outlets like NPR, The Guardian, Billboard, and La Presse, headlined iconic festivals such as Roskilde, WOMAD, Montreal Jazz Festival, and NYC’s Central Park SummerStage, and secured a Latin GRAMMY nomination for Best Alternative Album. Their music has also reached pop culture milestones, including being featured in cult filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s hit movie Machete.
